Le Onde is out now as a single. It's Ludovico Einaudi's composition, played by our founder James (Box Of Rules is his one-person music project) on bass and his oldest friend Rob Campkin on violin, and from today you can stream or download it on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Deezer, Tidal, SoundCloud and the rest: pick your service here. Or watch the video first, which is the whole story in four and a half minutes.
James and Rob recorded Le Onde wearing Focus Frames®, and over the top of the performance James tells the story of why the frames exist: twenty years of struggling to practise the instrument he loves, a diagnosis at 31, and the question that started everything (he already used earplugs to sleep, so is sight the same?). If you've been following along on TikTok you'll have seen it in eight short parts over the last few weeks. The single is the whole piece, uninterrupted.

The cover is the performance too. It's a photomosaic of Focus Frames built from 528 stills of the video, so every tile is a frame of James and Rob playing. Worth a close look on a big screen.
Le Onde means The Waves. James used to feel like the waves were pulling him under. With the frames on, the water washes over him and he gets to choose what he takes in. That's the whole idea of Focus Frames in one piece of music, which is why we wanted it out in the world on its own.
